Day 12 (16/8/2014)

We are having our lunch:)
Today, we went on a field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was huge and there were a lot of different kinds of marine creatures to see! There were even playful penguins, sexy sea otters, jumping jellyfish, and colorful coral reefs. We even had the chance to touch starfish and sea cucumbers with our bare fingers!

After we’ve fed our eyes with the beauty of the underwater world, we went out to the balcony and got a breath-taking view of the ocean. With the telescopes provided, we could see the white seagulls flying in the sky, resting on the rocks, and floating on the surface of blue.

We went out on the streets of Monterey bay after we left the aquarium. There were exquisite seashore ornaments to see and to buy everywhere.

In the evening, we packed up our luggage. After the field trip tomorrow, we’re going to be taking our flight back to Hong Kong. We surely are going to miss this place!

8.16.14 Group 6

Today was the second last day of our trip. We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was really enormous and we saw various kinds of sea creatures like different fish, jellyfish, octopuses, tuna, sea turtles... they were  cute and awesome. They were moving really elegantly. the sea otters were really cute too. They bobbed playfully on the water, but they seemed to avoid us as they did not swim to our direction. We were really disappointed with them.
After that, we left the aquarium and strolled on the street of Monterey. It was a typical seaside town with tons of gift shops along the street. One of our group mates even spent $5 on playing claw machines.Of course, she failed to get a thing. The street was gorgeous and it was sunny. the sky was blue and there were a lot of seabirds. Although it was rather noisy, it gave the street a sunny disposal. we felt really happy while sauntering along the street.
We went back to the dorm and we were told to pack. We  were really reluctant in doing so but we had to go back to Hong Kong. We signed out and had a last walk to the bookstore and bought some books. we also went to take a few pictures of the beautiful campus.
We couldn't believe we were leaving tomorrow. This has been an amazing tour where we gained a lot of precious and happy memories. We believe we all are going to miss everything here.

16th August, 2014

It took us two hours to travel from campus to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and the scenery on our way to Monterey was fabulous.  There were horses roaming freely in a big piece of grassland, farmers planting in fields, everyone is living a simple and relaxing life. The Monterey Aquarium is gigantic! There is a big collection of marine life like jellyfish, sea otters, penguins and sharks. However, out of all sea creatures, the sea otters left us with the deepest impression. They were just way too adorable with their fluffy short hands pressed on their nostrils when they are gliding on the water surface. We left the aquarium and wandered on the Cannery Row, it is located at the bay coast area. Therefore, we could clearly see the wide ocean and the glittering reflections of sunlight shining bright upon the sea. We then bought dipping dots ice-cream that waters our mouth in this beautiful summer. After returning to campus, we had to pack our bags to get ready for our flight tomorrow night. We would all miss Stanford so badly. This program has broaden our mind and widen our vision, we would never forget what Stanford has given us through this short but fruitful two weeks.

Group 4 DAY12 16-8-14
Our last second day. And what a journey it has been. From us being homesick freaks to those who can't let this place go.

Today was our second last day and we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was really interesting seeing octopuses, sea otters,  penguins and many kinds of fishes, all in every different color and specie. There were many sea animals that we have never seen before. The big fish tanks allow us to have a closer look of the creatures. We had a great time in the aquarium.
After visiting the large aquarium, we went shopping in the street called cannery row in front of the aquarium. The shops were full of handmade crafts and we bought some souvenirs there. We also went to an dripin' drop shop for a short break after the tiring shopping.

Though there wasn't much that we did today, we did had a break to go tour around the campus again before dinner. We go the chance to reminisce the great times we had here.

Whether it is the tired and deep lessons or the tuki tuki game from intuition class, we all treasure what Stanford gave us, the opportunity to be here and the opportunity of the experience. We do hope that they could feel our gratitude towards them especially to the counselors who gave us guidance and a fantastic time here, teaching us to do henna and tie dye. We are truly thankful.

Day 12

Time really flies, we can’t believe that it was the second last day in Stanford. To start our day, we rode on the coach for about two hours to arrive the Monetary Bay Aquarium. It was gorgeous and was much bigger and spacious that what we had expected. We were curious about the fishes, sharks, coral and so much more. We even touched the sea weeds and it was a memorable experience for us.  We had fun in the souvenirs shop and bought some pens made of maple wood for our families.

We went to the book store again for the last time after coming back from the Aquarium.  We were enthusiastic and bought a lot of things, including books, snacks and some pretty calendars. We also took some photos along our way home and they’ll surely be our memories for our trip. Sadly, our trip had nearly come to an end. We had never thought we would experience such an awesome camp here. It was much more remarkable that what we have thought. We loved our lives in Stanford and we would miss each and every thing here. We are sure that we’ll never forget what we’ve learnt, and what we’ve felt. We will leave Stanford with nostalgia for sure!

16/8/2014 Day 12 Group 2

On the second to last day of our tour, we had a field trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium. We had waited for this visit for a long time as we could see many sea animals in the aquarium!
The logo of the aquarium!
We planned our schedule and chose to look at the fish and octopuses first. The octopuses were really huge! They moved slowly in the water and sometimes hid in the corner. We also saw sharks in the huge water tank! They swam past us very closely which made us really excited!
Then, we saw a “Touch Pool”, which we could touch the bat rays! We stood beside the pool for a long time, but they just didn't swim near us. Just as we were going to leave, one swam by and Jacqueline touched its pectoral fins!
After that, we went out to look at the beautiful sea. We took some photos and enjoyed the comfortable sea wind. Some seagulls flew by and Jamie caught the moment when one of the seagulls was doing its “private business”! The sea was clear and we seldom see such clear sea in Hong Kong.
Beautiful sea :p
As it was about 1:30 pm, we hurried to the area of sea otters to watch “The Feeding of Sea Otters”. We arrived there early and could get to the front! This allowed us to see the sea otters clearly. Some sea otters were playing with a ball, some were swimming, and some were lying on the rocks. They were so adorable! It was time for the feeding to start! Some sea otter trainers came out and started feeding the sea otters. At the same time, a staff started introducing the sea otters to us. We enjoyed the feeding so much!

It's playing with a basketball!

Playing with a "donut-like" toy!

We then went to the gift shop, which we had always looked forward to. Some of us bought stuffed toys and we all bought something.
Sea otter stuffed toys!

We also went to the street where the aquarium is located. We saw a shop selling sea otters souvenirs and did some shopping there. After that, we went back to the meeting point and return to Stanford.
Starbucks!

The way back to Columbae :)

Today was a really unforgettable day! Our time in Stanford is coming to an end, and we will treasure our last day - tomorrow.

8.15.2014 Day 11 Group 6

Many people in our group wants to be either pharmacists or doctors so the trip to the medical anatomy center was very beneficial for us. We first beheld the digital dissection table where doctors take CT scans and display them on the digital table so that they can see what is going on inside the body and what they can do to make the patient well again. Then, we went to experience some applications the academy has created for educational purposes. There was a very popular new invention called the Oculus Rift and the professors have developed a program where people can explore the insides of the ear and nose more closely. We then progressed onto the most exciting part of the entire tour- the part where we get to hold well preserved organs with our (glove covered hands). We got to hold nearly every part of the human body and it was truly a fascinating experience.

After the tour, we attended our Intuitive Thinking class (starting of course with a Tuki Tuki). Today,we made our own lemonade with water, citric acid and sugar. Most of our products were disgusting and many of us had to rush to the bathrooms to rinse out our mouths. We also learned that the most effective way is most of the time the simplest way and that we should always try to eliminate all other possibilities.

We had our presentations which we all think were very well-done and we enjoyed watching others and presenting them ourselves. Our group did a role play on DNA and genetic mutation, it was great fun and we will miss our classes greatly.

The s'mores were delicious, by the way.  Would recommend this strange diabetes causing food, 10/10
