The weekends were over and so we went back to our daily routine of having lessons. We have been eating western food for so
many days that all of us missed Chinese food incredibly. Last week the
counselors trained us to remember the route to different places. Today our
internship starts as the counselors did not even walked with us to the
classroom, so we had to depend on our memory and map-reading skills to reach
the classrooms. Today's lesson focused on writing skills. In the morning
session, we were taught about rhetoric. The professor is indeed a literature
professor! We learnt about Ethos, Pathos and logos which are three kinds of
persuasive methods that can make our presentation more convincing. The
professor was humorous and she told us that making use of these skills can turn
this world into a wish-granting factory! Personal statement was a must when applying
for a university, but all of us were unsure about how to make ours stand out
from thousands of other applicants. At first, we were all cheesed off when we heard
the phrase 'essay writing'. The professor showed us that essay writing was
actually not as bad as we think. The most important thing is to follow the ideas
that cross our minds and don't care too much about the mistakes and irrelevant
contents we have written when drafting. After all, essay writing did not turn
out to be so bad. Right before dinner, we headed to the Stanford
Shopping Center
for a short shopping trip. We went to Pinkberry to get frozen
yoghurt and it was very delicious. The mouth-watering yoghurt melts in your
mouth gradually and together with the toppings, it was like a party in your mouth. We also had fun taking pictures in the photo booth in urban outfitters. At night after the house meeting, the counselors prepared a surprise for two of our birthday girls and we could not believe that they actually made cards and purposely asked the kitchen to prepare a cake for us. We sang the birthday song in English and Cantonese, we ate ice-cream and cake together. It was definitely a day to remember.
