Day 7
We had an
ordinary breakfast in the morning as usual. It was our first trial to walk to
our classrooms by ourselves. We were glad that we finally grew independent and
learned to figure it out ourselves! We had a lesson on the skills of writing
personal statements, especially those for applying to universities. We understood
the process of writing, which is planning, drafting then rewriting. We found it
useful and it would definitely help us in the near future. We did enjoy the
free writing time as we could just randomly write out our thoughts without any
restrictions, and that is what we had been longing for. We just loved that
moment!
After lunch, we had a
lesson on journalism. This lesson was indeed very interesting and it was filled
with exciting activities. The first activity was testing our vocabulary on
colours: we were impressed by the large variety of colours that we thought of. Another
activity that our group likes the most is that we have to describe how effective certain advertisements were and the skills they used. We also wrote a
letter to our parents, persuading them to purchase the things we had been longing for.
We treasured this experience!
Then, we took
a bus and went to the Stanford Shopping Centre and shopped for an hour. Like
yesterday, we were very tired after running across the streets and shopping in a
short time. However, we were all satisfied as we could buy what we want and the
price was really cheap. For example, we bought some clothes from Abercrombie
and Fitch, Gap and some other products such as candies and hand sanitizers.
After shopping, we walked for 25 minutes back to the dining hall and had a fulfilling
dinner.
