In the morning we went for lab tours at the Digital Anatomy Lab. We first had a look at different organs that had been dissected by reseachers. It was incredible to see how our organs really look like in real life as we can only see their pictures in textbook. We even got the chance to touch and hold the heart and limbs. The researcher illustrate some of the unique characteristics of the heart and the lungs, which we had never thought of. For example, he explained to us the reason that cause the left lung to be smaller than the right lung-our heart is on the left side of our body, and does not leave enough space for our left lung. As such, our left lung has to be smaller in order to fit into our body. Then the researcher made use of the anatomage to show us the CT scan of different body parts. It was so amazing to see the cross sections of the whole body. The anatomage is also very useful for the medical students to learn the details of differnt organs. After that, we were offered a chance to 'enter' human body. We wore a huge glasses that shown us 3D images of organs in our body. It was so cool that we could move around with our heads up if we want to look at the top of that part of the body. From the tour, we were able to learn new skills and enhance our knowledge in biology.
The second lesson was on problem solving. We made lemonade with different ratios of sugar and citric acid. From that, we understood that we do not need to follow strictly to recipe and can try them out ourselves. We were given a task to build a wall with lego that wil not break when we drop it in a high position. We were surprised that the solution was using one lego only. We knew that we should think in a different way and not to stuck to what we had been thinking. Then we had a bicycle test. We learnt to move one wheel only so to make things simple and easier for us to find out the answer. To conclude, two sessions of lessons on problem solving allowed us to learn to think in another way, out of the box, in order to achieve our goals.
We had another dinner gathering with all the international students and it was fun as we got to catch up with them. We then did our presentations and we did ours smoothly. Later on, we had a fire pit gathering eating s'mores with the Chile group. The s'mores were very delicious and we do hope to do more of these activities in the future.
