Day 1 (5/8/2014)
We believe this Stanford experience will benefit us in a lot
of different aspects.
Academically, our knowledge in the Sciences will be
strengthened through the many varied and in-depth lectures this program
provides. Our English will also improve a lot as we are going to have plenty of
chances to communicate with our American friends here.
Life skills are also best developed in this boarding house
as being away from our families, we will learn to stand on our own two feet.
Punctuality and respect, as well as other important values, will definitely be
more strongly held in our hearts.
Day 2 (6/8/2014)
Today we had our two lectures, about neuroscience and
evolutionary biology. The things we learned about were useful and interesting.
For neuroscience, we learned about the human brain and the
nervous system. The professor was very nice and enthusiastic. We learned that
we should not take everything for granted, instead we should explore and
discover new things.
For evolutionary
biology, we learned about deoxyribose nucleic acid (DNA). We now know what
genes are! One remarkable aspect was that the class was based on the movie
Jurassic Park. We investigated the limitations of creating dinosaurs, which
have been extinct for a very long time.
Afterwards, we went on a scavenger hunt, which helped us to navigate
around the Stanford campus.
The whole day was packed with much fun!
