Day 10 (14/8/2014)
Today, we had continued on our two-part lecture of
Neuroscience. It was most enlightening that our teacher, who is a
neuroscientist herself, let us ask questions about anything on this subject.
Then, we learnt more about neurons and the nervous system. The most fascinating
thing we learnt, for us, was how memories are made and retrieved and refreshed
and forgotten. Our brains are amazing, truly.
After lunch, we had a seminar on Stanford admissions. The
speaker told us all about how we apply to the university and what we can do to
stand out. Stanford is a prestigious school, so we are grateful for this talk.
Then, we had our second part on Intuitive Problem Solving.
Like last time, the whole process was very engaging. Through simple
experiments, games, and videos, we learnt that seemingly difficult matters can
be made easy, we need only think out of the box. The lecture on the whole was
inspiring for us. We not only learnt more about “intuitive problem solving”,
but also ourselves.
