11/8/2014 Day7 Group 2

11/8/2014 Day 7 Group 2

Today was the 7th day of our Stanford tour. We had Journalism Workshop in the morning, and Writing Workshop in the afternoon.
We started off the lesson with a self introduction and a bingo. Qianna was the lucky one who won it and got a lollipop. Then, the teacher introduced us to the three important words: ethos, which means the credibility of the speaker; pathos, which means emotion; and logos, which means organisation of information. After the break, the teacher gave us some ads and asked us to analyse them using the three words. We had a great time getting to know how people persuade readers. At last, we were asked to write a persuasion letter. It was a very fun class and we learnt a lot of useful persuasion techniques.
We all wore Stanford Clothes! :p

After lunch, we had a writing workshop. Dr. Conrad Scott-Curtis taught us about some writing techniques on writing an essay. The steps of writing an essay were pre-writing, drafting and rewriting. Also, he taught us free writing. We thought that it was relaxing because we could write anything that came to our mind. Besides, we were taught to add more details in our writing so we could paint a vivid image in our writing.
At 4pm, we visited the Stanford Shopping Centre. We spent most of our time in the shop Bath and Body Works, which sells skin care and bathing products. We had a great time there.
During our house meeting at night, we had a birthday surprise for Qianna and Claire. We ate a birthday cake and ice-cream together and they felt very blessed. Qianna is our groupmate and she enjoyed the surprise a lot.

We enjoyed today very much and we had learnt many useful skills today! :)
