Day 8 (12/8/2014)

Today, we had our second part of Evolutionary Biology. It was great to go more in depth on the things we learnt last week. We did a fun and easy experiment on extracting DNA from strawberries. The result was unexpected and it was amazing that it could be done with simple household items.

After our delicious lunch, we had a lesson about decision making and leadership. A friend even won 10 USD for smart risk taking. We now know that there are in fact a lot of factors of making choices, and that there are important aspects to consider beforehand.

For our activity, we watched the movie “Catching Fire”, the sequel to the “Hunger Games” movie. It was thrilling, and our hearts skipped a beat during the romantic scene between the two main characters, Katniss and Peeta. We would like to have more of these activities, to spend quality time with our classmates and counselors. It feels warm just to sit in the lounge and huddle up.

We look forward to tie-dying and the field trip to Silicon Valley tomorrow!
